Throughout we have maintained the highest legal ethics standards and done our utmost to preserve the attorney-client and other privileges. Our principals are licensed attorneys or accounting professionals.



Mr. Desser is a pioneer in the commercial litigation finance industry, and has been a leading manager and investor since 2004. He co-founded and was sole managing director one of the first dedicated commercial litigation investment funds in the United States. He also has consulted on the acquisition and disposition of litigation risk portfolios. Previously, Mr. Desser was chief legal counsel and served in business development roles at two companies. Mr. Desser spent his early professional career in private practice at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP focused on mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Desser received his Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center and his Bachelor
of Arts cum laude from Brandeis University, where he played on the men’s varsity basketball and
tennis teams.

Mr. Desser is a 6-time Ironman Triathlon finisher, including the 2013 Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. 

He lives in Chicago with his wife and three daughters.





Mr. Cope has over 15 years’ experience investing in public and private companies helps manage litigation investment opportunities, and serves as liaison to Juris Capital’s investors. Mr. Cope is also

a principal of a Chicago-based fund focused on public equities investment, where he leads life
sciences investing.

While working at a captive firm for Equity Group Investments (a Sam Zell investment arm), Mr. Cope focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and securities matters. Mr. Cope also practiced
law at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. 

Mr. Cope holds a Masters degree in Molecular Biology, a J.D. from the University of Chicago and is a
Phi Betta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate in Economics from Brandeis University.

Mr. Cope is a co-founder of an elementary school based in Chicago, and has sat on the Board of several Chicago based non-profit organizations.






Mr. Petrakis has more than 30 years experience litigating complex civil and commercial matters.
He has tried jury and bench cases, and successfully argued appeals, in state and 
federal trial and appellate courts throughout the country.


Mr. Petrakis has represented national and international corporations, insurers, public utilities, and banks in an array of substantive areas including commercial disputes, products liability, banking, construction, environmental, bankruptcy, employment discrimination, ERISA, and international commercial litigation in foreign courts.


Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Petrakis was a judicial clerk for the Honorable Howard
C. Ryan, Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court, and was an editor at Loyola 
University Chicago Law Journal.






Mr. Vogel is responsible for financial management and capital structuring at Juris Capital. For more than 20 years, Mr. Vogel has counseled various financial firms and members of the various regulatory bodies on the structuring of their operations and capital. He also has extensive experience with companies in various stages of their life cycle including startups and businesses in an active mode of expansion. Mr. Vogel is a  CPA and FINRA Series 27-certified, and graduated with honors from Graham School of Management at Saint Xavier University. 

Mr. Vogel actively supports and serves several non-profit organizations based in Western Michigan.
